New CD release / “concrezioni sonore” piano works with live electronics by Agostino Di Scipio.
The studio recording of chpn. 3.2 variazioni di sensibilità al sè, for 3 performers, feedback network with piano, self-sensing actuators and other devices, is now available on cd. The Stradivarius label has just released (december 2018) a new recording under the title concrezioni sonore with piano and live electronics works by Agostino Di Scipio performed by Ciro Longobardi and cantierezero (Stefania Amisano, Claudio Cristani – piano with electrodynamic actuators –  and Giorgio Klauer – electroacoustics and digital signal processing).  Here some words about this fascinating work that Agostino Di Scipio wrote for us in 2012 within the project “bodysnatchers/ultracorpi”. It was a amazing experience!

«This is a workshop for the exploration of electroacoustic devices designed and built by Giorgio Klauer, called self-sensing actuators. In the performance, these actuators are used by the two piani- sts to “inject” in the strings a number of selected recordings of Chopin piano music (chosen by the performers). The piano strings into which the injec- tion is made, are themselves selected according to any Chopin piano music fragment. The tiny resonances of the injection, are taken up in a larger electroacoustic chain, with microphones and speakers positioned just next to the piano or insi- de, whose sound loops back into the strings via the actuators. A complex system is accordingly established, which develops in a process of growth and failure. Some extra noise is inevitably added into the process due to the bodily contacts of performers against the piano wooden structure, as the latter handle the actuators to inject Chopin in the strings. The whole performance is framed into three sections, with two interleaving bridges. Written for (and with) the friends of cantierezero, in the days of Chopin’s 200th birthday celebrations».

“Dark again Still again” for prepared piano and live electronics by Stefano Trevisi, composed in 2011 for Stefania Amisano, won the italian music award “Premio Nazionale delle Arti” (Section Electronic Music and New Tecnologies / Live performances) in july 2013.
The work, performed by Stefania Amisano (piano) and the composer himself (sound projection) during the competion’s final concert, is now published on CD .

biography

Stefania Amisano / piano

ITA / DE     Stefania Amisano, pianist, was born in Novara (Italy).
Beside graduating at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica of Alessandria, she also studied chamber music in Parma with Pierpaolo Maurizzi and completed her musicological studies at University of Pavia. The Post-Graduated chamber music courses  in the class of Maureen Jones and Dario De Rosa and the Trio di Trieste – first at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Florence, Italy) and later at the International Chamber Music Academy in Duino (Trieste, Italy) – were a crucial artistic and human experience in her musical life.
She also specialized at prestigious international academies such as the Internationale Sommerakademie Universität Mozarteum Salzburg (Paratore), the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt (Chen, Wiget, Hodges) and the Stockhausen-Kurse für Musik in Kürten. She took part in several seminars and masterclasses with György and Marta Kurtág.
Awarded at numerous national and international competitions, Stefania enjoys an international career as performing musician as soloist, in chamber music and contemporary music ensembles. She recorded for radio and CD releases.
Her  solo recitals are focused on contemporary piano music: actually a very important part of her solo projects concerns the interactions between acoustic space and electronics, working with composers and sound artists on creating new original projects and commissioning new works. She has performed and premiered various works by both young and established living composers like Agostino Di Scipio, Bernd Richard Deutsch, Fabio Nieder, Wei-Chieh Lin, Grzegorz Pieniek, Stefano Trevisi, Gerhard E. Winkler.
Her unconventional, open-minded approach to music did give to realizing creative and unusual programs and – in partnership with other artists – to devise crossover projects that combine music, performance, literature, theatre and visual arts. Since 1991 she has been performing regularly with the Duo Novalis, founded together with the pianist Claudio Cristani with the aim of furthering the most genuine chamber music aspect of piano duo. She is also a founding member – together with Claudio Cristani and the composers Giorgio Klauer and Stefano Trevisi – of the music collective cantierezero, an ensemble devoted to the experimentation of new paths of contemporary chamber music, in synergy with electronics and digital arts.
